The last person Alice Shipley expected to see since arriving in Tangier with her new husband was Lucy Mason. After the horrific accident at Bennington, the two friends - once inseparable roommates - haven't spoken in over a year. But Lucy is standing there, trying to make things right. Perhaps Alice should be happy. She has not adjusted to life in Morocco, too afraid to venture out into the bustling medinas and oppressive heat. Lucy, always fearless and independent, helps Alice emerge from her flat and explore the country.

I think this will make a good film. I think it is going to be one at some stage. It's got a very definite film noir vibe to it. It's dark and twisted at times and I think Lucy is someone to cause debate. She's unhinged but she's complicated so it's a hard one to figure out. It would have helped if there was more back story about her as you never really discover much about her background. Those details are sketchy and in the end so is she. But I found it compelling and I finished it very quickly so it's a nice easy read
