I have just finished 'The Sentence' by Louise Erdrich published 2021. I am blown away. A super story about Tookie, an indigenous American with an unusual past. It covers a year from November 2019 to November 2020 when the bookstore she works in is haunted by a former customer. Along the way, covid and racism and indigenous culture are part of the story. These are worked in sometimes gently but with great impact. She also includes mouth watering snippets about food. I read her Pulitzer prize winning 'The Night Watchman' but didn't enjoy it as much as this one. One of the great things about it is the name-dropping of the main characters favorite book titles. Makes for a good addition to my list of books to read :)
